I am opening an advertising company and I need to know something? |
How much does the average small company spend on advertising? I sell radio/intenet advertising in a major market and I have clients all over the spectrum. From $3K to $50K per month. The beauty of radio & Internet is the ability to change quickly, to pull an ad or to make modifications based on reaction. Unlike print we can broadcast a sale, promote an event or whatever without a lot of lead time. Also, if there is an error, we can change it immediately rather than wait for the next print. There is also some great benefits in combining marketing efforts, spreading the word around. What type of ad co did you open? I wish you well! I work for a medium sized non-profit in large city and I typically spend about $15,000 buying ad space and very little on creative. This year I spent about $12,000 on photography though most of the creative was a donation. I would imagine a small business would have a similar budget. Most wouldn't be buying ads on a weekly basis, only during crucial periods. A retail company might buy a newspaper ad every week in December but that would be the majority of their annual budget. its all going to depend on what they want magazine, newspaper, tv, radio, banners, posters, etc. but on average I would say on a weekly basis 10-25K I'm starting my own business in graphic design. I'll be up and running in 4-6 weeks. My advertising budget rarely exists - I'm focousing more on promotion at the moment.
