Can anyone tell me what kind of software/programs that I can use to build magazine/print ads with?

There are so many software/programs out there and going by the info their website's, it's hard to tell which programs could be right for me.

All I want to do is build a few print ads so I can start advertising my business? I know that I could have someone build them for me, but I'd rather try to do it myself first.

Any insight to my situation would be appreciated...

Thanks in advance to all for sharing your knowledge with me.

I'm using Adobe Photoshop 7.0 http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photosh...

A very capable program without the overkill of hard-core professional programs. Download various fonts and plug-ins http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photosh... and you have a very great workhorse for a start in the advertising line. Have fun!
Absolutely, positively ... without a doubt ...

Corel Draw is the easiest program to use, especially if you are in a PC environment.

In a MAC environment, Adobe Illustrator may be better. But as one of only a few artists nationwide who HATE Macs, I'm in an obvious minority.

I started with Corel 10 years ago when I started my advertising agency, on the advice of a graphics artist friend, and I have never once regretted that decision.

Corel is easy, intuitive, and simple.

I use photoshop, but only to edit bitmap files. Most ads that you could produce will look much better in a vector program like Corel or Illustrator.

Quark, Publisher, Freehand, Paint, and any other program will not serve your needs. They cannot perform well beyond the most simple of tasks. If you start with one of these, you will soon be disappointed because they cannot do some simple thing you want to do in your ad.
