Marketing question, advertising campaign?



this is some kind of school assignment im doing
i have been employed as a marketing consultant for a band, to give them advice on marketing operations. the band are vocalist, 2 guitarists, and a drummer, their nice appearance and voice make them potentially attractive to all age groups,

tha band andtheir manager are looking for my advice on how to improve the current situation and that my advice should be based on sound research n marketing theory. They have asked me 2 come up with some ideas and present them with a report in advance

(stuck on third part of report)
3.Design an advertising campaign, detailing creaitve and media strategy, through which u will provide support for possible re-launch of the product
create advertising plan
detail inter and intra media decisions utilising a suitable chart

Before you do anything else, I'd tell you to think about your statement "potentially attractive to all age groups." While that potentially may be true, your marketing plan will have a lot more success if you are able to segment it down based on some sort of characteristic. Would they appeal to men versus women? An 18 year old versus a 55 year old?

Find the most attractive market first...then find the one aspect of the band that makes them different from other bands like them. Is there something that makes them more than "run of the mill?" Once you've established those points and have a clear idea of who they are and who their real target is, you can then think about letting the media/advertising/re-launch fall into place based on those constraints.

showcase the member's of the band with airtime for a television commercial so they get exposure,if there really that good,they'll take off like a pair of birds....
When you are conducting research, don't overlook your client because they are source of information. Ask them who shows up to their concerts. Most likely that is your target market.

As for the advertising campaign plan, make sure that all your goals, objectives and tactics stay on strategy. You should definitely include a SWOT analysis and probably a Gantt chart (detailing your media decisions).
