Correct ARTICULATION in a commercial ad? |
I hear a grammatical faux-pas in a nationally broadcasted Television commercial. In a recent Ford car commercial, the announcer says "Buy this car doring this sale" - Instead of "(buying this car) dUring this sale." I know I am being overly pickey, but I am a TOASTMASTER and I have taken a Broadcast announcing course, so I am trained to hear such a grammatical finesse. "Buy this car during this sale" is more direct that "Buy this car dOring this sale." I learned that there is a diction-difference across the USA. Is this border-line somewhere near Tennessee or nearby or east of that state-line? P.S. I'm in Texas so I listen with a "Southern-ear." Thanks. Yes, you are being picky. The announcer has a different dialect/accent. Let it go. What is your question anyway? About the border? |
