My major is Advertising/Public Relations. What job opputunties exis for me? |
I'm not really interested in my major yet. Theres not a whole lot to choose from at my school. I'm also a marketing minor. What kinds of jobs are out there for someone with a AD/PR degree? And What about the earnings/work enviroment?? thanks for help! My degree and career is in Public Relations and I think it's a great job. Earnings really depend on what industry you work in. Entertainment and non-profits tend to go from 20-40K, corporations and hospitals a little more and you'll get big bucks working for a pharmaceutical firm or the financial sector. You have to be a great writer, creative and very strategic. You also have to have an outgoing character and be able to make a lot of media contacts. I do recommend it. Work is different every day, you meet a lot of interesting people and you really see a lot of rewards. As an Ad/PR major there are many opportunities for you... 1) Ad agencies - can be very rewarding but very fast paced and highly stressful 2) PR firms - I'm not sure but you may find a job in a PR firm less fulfilling than in an advertising agency 3) Marketing/PR Manager in any company - you have limitless number of companies who could hire you. Your compensation depends on the company. 4) Freelance - I believe that this is the hardest but its definitely doable. Start with the small companies and then work your way to the bigger ones.
