How do I advertise a repair service? |
The nature of such a service is that an advertisement is only relevant once something needs repair. What is an effective way to raise awareness of this service locally, and to those who need repair in particular? It depends how locally you want to advertise and also what it is you repair. If it's say a car, then I would buy an old banged up car and park it outside a large shopping center or super market. I'd then leave the hud open and replace the engine with an old dustbin with the words 'wreck' written on it. I'd then print you company logo on the underside of the hud, so it can be seen by bypassers 'is your car a pile of old spanners? We can help! Visit us at (company details). Obviously i'd pay for the parking space and ensure the vehicle could be driven away so as to not violate parking restictions. The point of this is that the car would draw attention and then communicate your repair business in a funny and unusual (and so memorable) way. You could even have a clown dressed up behind the steering wheel to add additional humour. If you want to do something a little more sensible i'd sign up to either the Google or Yahoo PPC programmes and do geographical targeting - PPC meaning pay per click, so essentially search marketing specifically within your postcode/city. This way you can carefull monitor your marketing spend, and if you have a good website, track to conversion. Hope this helps. You are heading in the right direction. First thing to do is take advantageof all the free advertising services available to you such as the grocery store hand out papers or at least the ones that are very low cost. Next the first or second thing a person does is grab the phone book when a repair is needed, I would definetly take an add in the yellow pages. Most communities have a local radio station that has a trade time for its community to call in or for a small fee will allow local businesses write a short add for them to read during the community show. All of these are great to take advantage off especially if you are just starting out and money is tight. passed experience! One thing I have learned along the way in an HVAC service company is that refrigerator magnets work. People just don't throw those things away. Additionally, I have found that postcards have worked so much better than newspaper advertising. You are right about the newspaper ads. A properly positioned campaign can work wonders.
