Chances of getting caught selling ebooks on ebay? |
Chances of getting caught selling ebooks on bay with no resell rights. I'm always reading of people buying counterfeit items and complaining later and ebay do nothing about it. So are the chances slim? It actually depends on who you ripped the ebook from and whether they keep a vigilant eye on eBay. My site is an information site, and we've caught several people stealing our articles, presenting them as ebooks and then selling them off on eBay. Worse, they put their name on the articles and their copyright marks on the article -- articles that they do not own (I should know; I wrote most of the articles). What we do is we are part of eBay's VERO program or verified owner's program. Once we see an ebook that is a ripoff of our articles (we actually buy from the seller first to see whether it is really ours), then we alert eBay and eBay removes the seller's listing. We've also had users emailing us telling us that a seller ripped off our articles and selling them as ebooks on ebay. So in answer to your question -- it depends on whether the article owner actually monitors eBay; or whether you are out of luck that your customer actually reports you to the owner. First timers and amateurs very often get caught quickly. Leave it to the professionals who know how to play the system. Why would you risk breaking the law and being arrested to make a few bucks of someone. Have you checked your standard of morals lately? |
