I have a marketing idea for a 3M product that that would increse profit 1,000% Any marketers out there? $300 m |
300 million in sales first year expected USA alone. Let's hear it! Source(s): I own an investment/marketing firm I can help. What do you have? what do the demographics look like so what are you doing on Y!Answers? No doubt you have an air-tight business plan and the funds to pull this off. I am not an attorney. I am not a financial planner. I am not an accountant. If you already work for 3M, you already have your 鈥渋n鈥? don鈥檛 you? If not, here鈥檚 what I suggest: Like the old saying goes: 鈥淏uild a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door.鈥? What the saying doesn't tell anyone or even mention is: YOU MUST get out there and let "the world" know about that better mousetrap! It seems as though you have a promising idea for a product or a store for many products. Contact the actual companies, themselves, who already have products in the establishments you鈥檙e looking to have your product marketed in. EVERY investor or potential investor you meet with and speak with wants to see a complete business plan "from soup to nuts" - including marketing and promotion ideas and goals - short-term goals, mid-term goals and long-term goals.. You can do this research on-line or go to the library and ask the librarian to help you find the right book for your idea or product. Don't be surprised if you get a blank "deer-caught-in-the-headlights... stare or look. You could be directed to a section of books about planning a business or preparing the right business plan for your business. Prepare your business plan on your computer. Use an easily-readable font using a large enough font size [I suggest 12 or larger]. Use your computer's spell-check, thesaurus and dictionary features. When you print it, use good paper. DO NOT USE any paper less than 70 lb. The color should be white or off-white. "How hard is it to get a loan from a bank? It depends on your credit record and rating. It depends on your relationship with that bank. When you apply for the loan, any legitimate lending institution will automatically ask for A] your complete legal name, B] your current address, C] how long you lived at that address and D] your Social Security Number. As you are sitting there, the officer WILL pull a credit report. Where the discussion goes from that time is completely dependent on the information in that credit report AND your relationship with that bank and/or bank's officer. Ask the bank officer who the bank uses for public relations and for promotions. Ask who they employ, retain and/or consult to have new products [yes, banks have new products. They are called "loans" and "accounts" introduced. Don鈥檛 be surprised if you don鈥檛 get any response at all from some of them, many of them or even all of them. Go on the internet to find out who the officers of the company or those companies are. THEN contact those people. - by name and title. Use "snail mail" and e-mail. You "just want to get a foot in the door". THEN you make your presentation. You could search the web for "Venture Capital" 鈥淏usiness Consultants鈥? 鈥淢arketing Consultants鈥? etc. You may have to go to work to get a few thousand dollars together. In all honesty, until you decide to invest in yourself first and you DO invest in yourself first, your chances to capitalize on your idea and to have it realized are extremely remote in getting anyone to invest in you. You need some money "to get the ball rolling". Ask friends and relatives. Ask someone to lend money for you to set up a corporation. THIS IS A "CATCH 22." Consult a knowledgeable attorney about this. Telephone, 鈥渟nail mail鈥?or if you are fortunate enough to have the corporate headquarters in close proximity where you live [I use about 150-200 miles], make an appointment with the VP of Marketing, COO, CFO, President or even the Chairman of the Board. Before your appointment, sit down with all the concerned parties, investors and those who know what you鈥檙e product is and what you want to accomplish. Have a 鈥渂rainstorming session鈥?for questions and additional ideas for your meeting. Be prepared with a list of questions for her/him/them. Take your questions, a note book and a few pens. Take a spouse or a friend - or two. MAKE NOTES! Don鈥檛 be afraid to challenge them - in a tactful way - about the statements they make. They may have a brochure or other literature prepared for you - and every other person in the world who builds that 鈥渂etter mousetrap鈥? Put those questions in a logical sequence. All your questions may not be answered - or answered to your satisfaction. They may not be answered in the order you list them, but sometime during the course of your meeting, the great majority of them will or should be answered. This is your money and your time as well as theirs. Initially it may cost some money for their time and expertise, but you should at least get a path revealed to you in order for you to begin developing that path into a highway. If you are paying a fee, ask about additional questions you may have and if the answers to those questions are covered under the fee you are paying them for their time on the day of your meeting. You don鈥檛 know until you ask. Contact those companies and the right folks whose names you wrote down at that meeting with the first executives. Ask who they employ, retain and/or consult to have new products introduced. One of the first questions - or perhaps one of the last questions - you have to ask is, 鈥淲hat product[s] from what manufacturer[s] and/or companies did you successfully introduce which became a consumer favorite, hit or blockbuster?鈥?Don鈥檛 take their word for it. Investigate those claims and statements. ANOTHER old saying: "Flattery will get you everywhere!" 鈥淧ick their brains.鈥?When people are knowledgeable about a particular field, many times they don鈥檛 mind parting with some of that knowledge. After all, you asked the question here; don鈥檛 you think I did my best to answer it? Want to make a really great impression on each and every person you meet with? [I hope you would do this]: Write a hand-written, hand addressed 鈥淭hank You鈥?note to each and every person. Thank them for their time and opinions. If that wonderful person gave you a lead ort a contact, ask for permission to use his or her name when you write to that second person or third person. How do I know 鈥淭hank You鈥?Notes work? Over 6 years ago I had surgery. I wrote those little notes - one at a time in my best hand-writing. I wrote to each and every person: from the porter who mopped the floor in our room and emptied the trash, all my nurses鈥?aides, my nurses, the kitchen staff, my doctors, the hospital administrator and the hospital鈥檚 top philanthropist. Not long ago I saw Dr. F. & Jerry. They IMMEDIATELY recognized me. They asked if they could do anything for me. 鈥淛erry鈥?told me he treasured and coveted my letter. I politely declined. I went about my business and when I got home that evening I cried tears of happiness. My little notes weren鈥檛 written in vain. Thank you for asking your question. I enjoyed taking the time to answer your question. You did a great job - not only for your information, but for every other person interested in reading my answer I wish you well! VTY, Ron Berue Yes, that's my real last name. Will you please do me a favor? Thank you. When your "ship comes in" and you get that first wonderful check, PLEASE send a donation to The Friends of Jerry Segal c/o Magee Rehabilitation Hospital 1513 Race Street Philadelphia, PA 19102-1177 In advance, I thank you very much! |
