To anyone who's had word of mouth advertising-how effective has it been for your business? |
Is it the best, cheapest route since advertising to strangers is a crap shoot? My experience shows me that negative word of mouth is 10x greater than positive word of mouth. So motivate your clients that have had positive experiences to sell your business. We offer referral fees to clients. Our data shows that by the time a person signs a contract with us we have spent over $2000 on advertising to bring them in. Leads are just over $100. So it is worth it to pay past clients money to bring clients to you. Depends what your business is, really. Many are popular...especially if they are unusual. Otherwise...you won't get too much. You will always have good customers if you do a good job, but it's a crap shoot really. Ultimately all advertising is reduced to word of mouth only. Think how it makes you form opinion and express it then you will understand. I'm part of a party plan that does jewelry-making parties. Aside from the odd vendor fair, my entire business is word-of-mouth and reaching out to build my customer base and sponsor additional consultants. It is hard and time consuming, but the personal approach to customer service the positive vibe it generates is very much worth it. Excellent question you have there Puts one's mind to thinking of the possiblities of the outcome. Have you ever tried to explain to a person offline who doesn't work online. They just don't have any concept of what the heck you are talking about. Tis difficult at best unless you fnd someone is works online and understands the concept of doing so. Although word of mouth may not be the best route to take Offline advertising could work quite well. Placing small Advertising cards (Business Cards)in on supermarkets bill boards . Print the same text on the back on any envelope when paying utility , telephone and Credit card bills etc., I have had a postman signing up from these envelopes. All very inexpensive and really not time consuming at all. You could also make posters and hang them up. Take out a small ad They ways to get the word out offline is huge I have barely skimmed the surface. I am attempting to even make myself a Tshirt with an iron logo of what I do with my url to it. Hey what have got to lose except my time The possibilties are endless Success to YOU online and off |
