Can I use other websites as references on my personal website?

When is the line crossed for copywrite etc.? For example, if I have a webside with a section called "Handbags" Can I go to Guess.com find a picture of a purse I think is cute, use the picture and reference guess.com on my website?

Do you have to get permission from websites before using them in this manor?

This is the general idea of how I will be using my website, anything from Target.com, Overstock.com, barnesandnoble.com, etc.

Just because your want to sell their merchandise, it doesn't give you the right ot use their photography, copy, etc. carte blanche. In fact, without permission, it is a copyright violation. The owner of that material has exclusive right as to how it will be represented. Always get permission in writing first. Source(s): Art Director
Yes you can and if you plan to sell the items there is usually an affliate program from the company where they will pay you for people going thru your website to buy from them at no cost to the buyer.
