Should I join my friend doing network marketing?

My friend recently bought a business, and he wants to know if I want to join. It is an internet network marketing company with a mass customization and one to one marketing basis. They are partnered with over 1000 partners like walmart, target and best buy. The company has 57 consecutive quarters of growth. There are about 200,000 people involved and it is still growing. Start up cost is $700. What do you guys think? I'm new to this, I don't really know how network marketing work, but this kid is a very smart kid, and I know he will be successful someday.

My experience is If there is pressure to join, what, are you going to find out that will make you not want to be a part later? If so then waiting is wise either way. If there is nothing to be afraid of, then take your time and wait to invest such a large sum. spend your time investigating your options and success of this company and others, do it without a commitment or investment. The right company will show it's true colors and be there for you even if you don't choose to invest right now. Because if they are what they say they are then they have alot of room to grow and or they aren't going to fold with your money invested tomorrow. Do your homework and take your time to figure out what is right for you. What is right for your friend may not be the right thing for you.
$700 ? From the glowing reference I was thinking $700,000 !

Maybe you should keep your money in your pocket.... Think before you leap!
You need to learn the ropes first. Over 98% of Network Marketers never achieve any real success. Forget the initial investment, it's a matter of what you can bring to the table. If you have no experience, no marketing knowledge, and are not good with people, you have a long way to go. You can spend $10 a month to be a part of a great NM company, as opposed to $700. Join NM forums for free and learn from other members, after that use the $690 you saved to market your new business.
All the companies, time and money, I've put in to businesses like this never cost that much. The best company I've found only costs $29 to join. $700 is way out there. I hope there is a money back guarantee. Jennifer
i would wait a while and see if he make money off of it and then have him show me the ropes.. unless you got that much to lose

If you want to join network marketing company then first think why you want to join it and if its for time pass then do not join it as it will give a bad name to the concept and if you really want to join any then join the best company and learn to build the business till you succeed.
You would probably be better off learning some of the ropes in regards to marketing as a whole before jumping in. The network marketing world preys on people who have no idea about the "marketing" side of things and uses "quick and easy" money as bait.

The truth of the matter is that the successful networkers have a clear understanding of how to market ANYTHING- not just network marketing companies.

Things such as copywriting skills and good selling skills will take you a long way in any marketing endeavor you pursue.
