Is there a way to format a list of e-mail addresses in a word doc so that I can send them all the same e-mail?

It's called bulk emailing. Do a Google search on that and you will get a ton of results.

I believe ACT and Goldmine (PIMS) have this ability. I wrote my own program to do it.

I would add a bit of caution in telling you that some of your clients will look at this as spamming so make sure the message is VERY generic and has a reason.
The truth is you can do a "mail merge" on Word too.
Yes.

I prefer the email system that comes with Netscape 4.78 but I'm sure can do the same thing with Outlook or Outlook Express.

First, try this format -- one email address per line with a CARRIAGE RETURN at the end.

email1@yahoo.com
email2@yahoo.com

Highlight the list of email addresses. Copy and Paste it into the BCC field of the outgoing email.

You might need to use one To: field and the rest BCC:

If all is well, your software automatically put each email on a separate BCC field line.

If that format doesn't work, then you need to insert a COMMA or SEMICOLON at the end of each emaill address in the list. Word has a great find and replace function that can find the CARRIAGE RETURN characters and replace them all with CARRIAGE RETURN COMMA or CARRIAGE RETURN SEMICOLON.

Now your list looks like --
email1@yahoo.com;
email2@yahoo.com;

Again, highlight, copy, paste into the BCC field of the outgoing email.

Did they populate one email address per BCC line?

Great. Create the email message body and hit SEND.

This is not the same as mail merge. In Word's mail merge, you create a template with fields like Name1, Name2, Address1, City, State, Zip. Then you print multiple letters where the fields are automatically filled from a list of names.

Instead of

Dear Mr. <name2>

it reads

Dear Mr. Smith.

The newer versions of Word may have a way to connect these letters into the email process. I haven't seen that work.

Good luck,

I would actually use a program like outlook to populate your addresses. I send out monthly newsletters to past clients and I just capture (or input) everyone's email address into my microsoft outlook - and then I create the file in publisher - send it as an email (so they don't have to open an attachment) and I have had pretty good success. As far as your spaming goes - make sure that you have an "opt out" on your email and that you are sending to people who have expressed some sort of interest.

Good luck!
