If I sale some laptops to a company in Vietnam, what shipping company or methods do you recomend first? DHL is the most reliable shipping company in Vietnam, and this is because of Larry Hillblom - the co-founder of DHL Express. Hillblom lived in Vietnam during the 90's and invested millions of dollars in businesses and restoring historical buildings there. Other means of shipment (i.e. UPS, USPS, etc.) are not as reliable. If you're considering larger shipments, then you will need to contact a freight forwarding service to deliver pallets or containers. There are U.S. restrictions on exporting technology, computers and high speed processors to tier three countries, which included Vietnam, China and Russia. However, such restrictions were lifted for fifty of such countries (to include Vietnam, China and Russia) by President Clinton in 2001. A good litmus test is you can export it to Vietnam if you can buy it in a retail store. The real problem is Vietnam's import tariff for computers. If you go by the book, you could pay more on tariffs than the computer is worth. If you know what you're doing, then you will have a shipping inspector in Vietnam paid off who will waive your shipment through. Your Vietnam contact should make this arrangement. If they aren't able to, contact me with a private message and I will give you contact information for my brother-in-law who is a shipping broker in Hanoi. I would be careful with this. There are several laws on exporting products, especially electronics. You might want to check out an exporting goods site before you ruin your career. federal express ? DHL ? |
