Where can I get information on how US radio network advertising works?

I'm interested in learning about how air time advertising for national radio networks are bought and sold and what are the general types of economic compensation/commissions do these buyers and sellers of air time pay and earn.

P J has the right answer. Call a local station, ask to talk to a sales rep and let him/her sell you on their station. They will have all the statistics.

Another idea is to go to your local public library and ask the business desk the same question. They will have an overwhelming amount of information for you.
So call a radio station and ASK them.
