We have the opportunity to use chip clips, plastic pizza cutters, key rings, measuring spoons, luggage tags, mouse pads, note pads, jar openers, letter openers, spatulas, coasters, window decal, door magnet, business card magnet, pins, buttons, yard signs.
My company uses a web company so we do not have to go looking. Not sure if I am allowed to give the particulars, that is were i go all the ideas.

there are some restaraunts and bars in my area that let you advertise in bathroom stalls. pretty captive audience though.
It can depend on what kind of business and what market you are trying to reach and on what level.
Creative would imply somethng never done before.however some of my faves are, When someone donates a peice of the body, a home or an auto on ebay, the highest bidder gets their buisness name on those things,i'm a fan of the foam stress relievers with a buisness logo on it.I have an R/C Plane with my buisness info accross the wings and tail.
Custom logo or message on candy
It all depends on the company! I've worked with and received some cool things-- I really like getting jump/usb drives with a corporate logo because it's a useful gadget that you can't get just anywhere. They make them in small megs to keep the costs down.

I also like stress balls because...well, I'm always stressed out! I've also heard of toilet paper and tissue paper with ads, which are really useful as well! Little personalized games with a corporate logo is also cool, because it can be for either kids or adults. Hope this helps!
