What are the differences between thematic and tactical advertisements?
Thematic advertisements convey or cover a them that would appeal to the market being targeted.
Tactical advertising is aimed at specific market segments and persuading them to go to a particular place or buy a certain service for reasons that would appeal to them Thematic ads are meant to relate more directly to the brand's overall positioning, to be more permanent and usually to be of a broader scope within the total marketing program for the brand. Tactical ads also support the brand positioning but may be for a one-time activity or may come up as the result of a special, unexpected need. Generally they would not be integrated into any long-term marketing program. An ad suggesting the product is for young men by showing them enjoying sports = thematic. An ad advertising a specific concert young men might attend = tactical.
