What is "craig's list"?

I've been trying to sell a gaming sytem for months, but no one wants to pay for the extras that come with it. So i've been refered to a website called "craig's list" (a website that allows you to buy and or sell items over the internet to other people). The only problem is I have no clue how to use it. All I know is that it's like "ebay", and no I'm not going to use ebay.

craigslist is a big online classified ad site, people use it to buy and sell items, job listings, apartment and house listings, personal ads, etc

basically what you can do is go to your local craigslist. at www.craigslist.org you find your local area on the list, and post an ad (it's free) about what you're selling. if anyone in your area is interested, they contact you (you put as much or as little contact info as you like -- it will "anonymize" your email address, so people can email you without knowing your real addy until you reply to them). then you work out the details with the buyer, most likely you will have to meet somewhere in person to exchange money and the item. there are a lot of wire transfer scams that go through CL so it's not advisable to do any shipping / western union payments.

craigslist is very popular in some places (Boston, NYC, SF) but you may not have as much luck if you live somewhere that's not as into the site.

you really should consider ebay, though. they have a lot of safeguards and it's very difficult to get scammed by a buyer now. you reach a very wide audience, and can usually tell how much you'll get based on what the item is already selling for. I have sold sega games, snes games and accessories, and an snes system on there for decent money and had very few problems over 30+ transactions.
It is a free ad website like a newspaper online but free unless you add pictures. No bidding just an ad!
Craigslist is a centralized network of online urban communities, featuring free classified advertisements (with jobs, internships, housing, personals, for sale/barter/wanted, services, community, gigs, resume, and pets categories) and forums sorted by various topics.

The service was founded in 1995 by Craig Newmark for the San Francisco Bay Area. After incorporation as a private for-profit company in 1999, Craigslist expanded into nine more U.S. cities in 2000, four each in 2001 and 2002, and 14 in 2003. As of November 2006, Craigslist had established itself in approximately 450 cities all over the world.
