Whats the best way to get into event / project management?...Just graduated with a marketing degree...? Working with a local hotel who hosts conventions or major parties is a great way to get your foot in the door and meet people in the industry. Also try reading trade mags for job openings or looking for jobs in the newspaper or on craigslist.org with local companys. Oh and try the convention center if you have one around. Come on out here to Vegas and you'll get a job in a heartbeat. Are you interested in going back to school for an event mgt degree at all? Source(s): I go to UNLV and know many event mgt majors. You could also apply to work for an event planning company. Check the yellow pages. And look for DMCs (destination management companies). You could also apply to various associations - they organize lots of events and conferences. And see if your community has a chapter of MPI (Meeting Planners International) or SITE or any of the other associations which deal with conferences, meetings and incentives. The local convention centre should be able to help with that, if you can't find a list in the Yellow Pages. |
