Would you wait in line for days to get a bargain on an item? |
I saw today where people waited in line since Tuesday to get a 2gb iPod for 99 cents. Is it worth it? Are these people crazy? If I didn't have a job, wasn't married, or had a lot of free time on my hands with nothing better to do, I might would have waited in line. It becomes a matter of time versus money versus supply versus demand. When I was a teenager, I would camp out for concert tickets because I couldn't afford to pay scalpers for decent seats. Now when I take my daughter to a concert and we want decent tickets, I just pay a scalper twice the price because it is easier and cheaper in the long run. Now I'm shopping for a car and I found one I like but the local dealer wants $3000 more (high demand and low supply) than a dealer located 1200 miles away (lower demand and larger supply). I'll buy the car from the dealer out of state. I can fly out, drive it back, have a night in a hotel, and still save $2500. To make $2500 for 2 days worth of work is worth the effort to me. Again, it is time versus money versus supply versus demand. no I would not, I would just work an extra shift and pay for it i would love to see something i would wait in line for days to get. id love to have time to wait in line for days to get something they are all losers, but i am answering this question so i guess that doesnt say much about me two hours tops. My time is worth more to me than whatever $ I would save. No, it is a clever ploy, but I certainly would not wait days to save $150 on a low-end iPod. I have heard that IKEA does similar stunts when they open a new store, they give big gift certificates to the first people in line on opening day. Personally I would be more likely to wait for something that was very exciting or rare, like concert tickets or something. |
