How Can I legally Register My product? (copyright)? |
i've made a great hair product for dry hair, and i'm currently selling it to hundreds of people. i want to legally protect my formula its 100% natural ingredients but how can i make sure no one tries to copy my idea (copyright) thanks The only legal protection you can get is a patent. Very few hair care products have patents. When is the last time you saw a patent number on your shampoo bottle. Patents are expensive and simply do not work for most common chemistry's. Minor changes can circumvent the patent and make a fine similar product. A patent requires you to reveal your formula. Never reveal it to anyone not even YA answerer who conveniently have researchers to help you. Most companies rely on the trade secret mechanism. Keep it a secret and make money selling it. Keep improving it. ****************** ****************** ****************** Patent ** **** KC-3 - Copy write will do no good it must be patented **** ** Source(s): http://www.uspto.gov http://www.inventors.org This is a good OFFICIAL and LEGAL website form the copywrite office: http://www.copyright.gov/faq.html... Follow the step by step instructions and it's that easy. Don't tell anybody about your formula to anyone (besides your mom or something), however, someone can over hear you and steal your formula. long process - where do you live? what state? Get it notarized as soon as possible. Then I recommend getting it researched, to see if something like that is out there already. If not, get it patented. This is gonna run you a couple of grants... I believe you have to register it at the Copyright office at the Library of Congress in D.C. Check out the link the person above me sent you. |
