how much does a graffic designer cost to design and format
around 200 pages of very simple material?

Costs for a graphic artist can be as low as 20 per hour and cost can be unlimited when you usa a firm. Mostly depends on the reputation.

I recomend going to the local college and speaking to the art director. See if there are any students who would like to do some work and part of the class. They will be able to use the real life experience and they'll spend a lot of times and detail on your project. Also they will have the guidance from the teacher who has probably been in the industry for years.

Best of all they'll probably do it for free.
