I want to know more about a "feed"? |
If you put a feed on your website do you have to pay anything, like money to the person whose feed it is. First, I am assuming that you want to put the feed on your website so that part or all of that other person's content is on your webpage. In this case, the main thing you need to do and should do is contact the owner of the feed for authorization to do so. This is because you will be using the person's content on your website. Some people only issue partial feeds and others issue full content feeds. If you are only putting a link to the feed then you can assume they won't mind, but if their content is going to appear on your page then it's better to ask to avoid copyright infringement issues. I implement feeds on my website http://moneymakerblogs.com but the feed only has the title of the post and one line, and my readers have to click on to visit the websites to read the full content. I communicate with all the bloggers whose feeds are on there, and they usually don't mind since only a snippet of their content is showing, enough to tease my readers to actually visit their blogs. So generally what you need is to get authorization. Its always safe to ask. Hope this helps. |
