Business/Marketing Question....................

Can anyone discuss the issues that are important in transforming a company from a product-oriented firm into a market-oriented firm.

I am not very sure whether such transformation usually take place considering the fact that division of labor and specialization excludes such transformation. You are asking something like how IBM can be transformed to something like Walmart or Sears Roebuck. In real life such situaitons seldom happen.
Then for intellectual reasons one can find so many ways for this.
first, they have to set up a marketing department. second, they have to start asking their customers (current and potential) on what they really need. third, try to deliver as much of what the customers want while keeping costs in sane levels. simple as that.
