Which comes first? registering a name, or designing a logo?? |
for a start-up business, should I secure a name then design a logo, or design the logo and trademark them together? Definitely do the name first - then get your web domain registered immediately. You need the trademark for the name to protect the logo. Then you can have time to do your logo. To check for web domains go to www.networksolutions.com Source(s): In marketing & graphic design... I would say it kind of depends on your overall plans. If you are, say, starting a small boutique in a small town and will likely never have more franchises, there shouldn't be a huge problem with doing both. However, if you are looking to ultimately operate on a larger (especially national or international scale), I would say start with the name and make sure it's something you can use first. I mean, you want to make sure you stand out from the crowd - not get confused with another member of it. Once you have your name locked in, go with the logo. That way you don't waste your time. Design the logo first TRUST ME! register the name first then design your logo Definitely register your domain name first. Good domain names are disappearing fast, so if you went to the trouble and expense to design a great logo with a brand name then tried to register that name and found it was already taken, you'd be mortified! Make sure you register a .com if possible, because when people talk about an online business and drop your name into conversation, people will assume it's a .com!
