Model help? |
ok so my bff's daughter wants to be a model so her mom does NOT know how to start or what to do so she asked me for help and like i dont know i want to know how and where to start, also i have heard that they get paid so her mom and i really need to know thanks! Yo You -- The modeling thing is a good part OF my business -- I have been a pro commercial photographer and certified model consultant for many years -- so, here is some "start up" words for you....... First off --- there are three things (in addition to the youngster having a great photogenic "look") that you will need to center on ---- 1) she will need at least SOME experience AT modeling -- either in front of the camera lens OR in front of people (or preferably both) -- so, a lot of people find GREAT beginnings at local fashion shows -- and, the most regularly scheduled of these are usually held in shopping malls and are ran by coordinators who are usually people who work as mall promotions directors or the like --- by contacting the local mall offices and talking with them -- one might be able to get a youngster into one of these shows -- then using contacts that one will meet at THESE shows -- learn of others that could be happening within your area !! 2) she will need at least the beginnings of a portfolio ---- A portfolio is a brief collection of photos that ARE the model's proof of photogenic ability --- it should be 12 to 20 8x10's in a binder that are as different from one another as is humanly possible --- variety being MORE than the spice of this thing -- it is THE thing ----- There is no need to go to great expense at this at the beginning -- and the younger the model -- the less detail has to be hammered into it all !! 3) Once a few trips into the "experience" realm have been accomplished and the most basic of portfolios has been assembled -- you will be ready to approach agencies that handle youngster of this age bracket --- but, be VERY aware, that there are far more of them out there that are into the SALE of portfolios and classes than are actually into the agenting OF clients ---- talk to people who have actually been PLACED into jobs by these people and get some feedback from actual CLIENTS on how they have worked out for THEM -- this is the best way to know if you are dealing with people who are actually writing business for their listed people !! Hope there is something in all of this that helps somewhat !! The best to you all in your endeavors here --- now, go make this thing happen !! Do not listen to the 1st answer. I would google it. go visit this website......... www.toospoiled.com There are plenty of helpful information on that site. Talent Scout |
