My friend is going to open a flip flop shop in Florida, does sanyone have any good name ideas? Companies with "cute" names don't last in business. Companies with names of the owner do better. Perhaps because the owner is putting his reputation on the line and it a better company. Don't limit what the company does too much by the name. "Anne Friend's Flip Flops". At some point your friend may want to expand beyond flip flops. Names that start with the letter A get listed first in the Yellow Pages and other directories. Lots of people pick the first company to call. The alternative is to be last. Consider denotative and connotative meaning of the name. Name that tell what the company does are helpful but not necessary. Consider that hiring a professional naming coming can cost about $75,000 and that they end up with silly, over-used names like Agilent for a Hewlett Packard spin-off.
