Question on Market Segmentation................



Does anyone know what is the market segmentation process and when should a firm utilize the process?

I had explained this process in your previous similar questions, but not when. Now every product marketing companies should know which segment they serve, unless it is a public good like the tv boradcast. Segmentation is a marketing strategy. This will help in utilizing your marketing resources optimaly for more than optimal results.
If you don't segment then your marketing program can flop directing your marketing to the wrong segment or creating the wrong advertisement or choosing the wrong function on products etc;.
For example an advertising liked by teenagers for a teenager product may not be liked by adults. It will be wasting of resources.
