How do you motivate your workers besides money? First off they have to respect you. But don't expect them to do anything that you haven't done, or would help them doing it. Second be honest with them; especially if they are doing a great job...let them know! The same goes if they are not doing so well. Let them know; but also provide guidance and instruction on how you would like it done. A pat on the back and a thank you goes a long way. Buying them lunch is another way to say thanks for the good job, and motivates people to do even better. Of course payed time off is the ultimate reward. Sometimes a simple thax is all that is required. Bottom line is that you need to know your workers. Treat them as people, not numbers or robots, you will be very happy with the results, and so will your employees. Source(s): 20 plus years in the military, some as a follower and some as a leader. I learned a lot in both roles about how people like to be treated, and what people will do for you if you treat them right. give them tiny food prizes for things they do good competitions work wonders. Acknowledge the work they are putting in and make sure that they feel that they are appreciated. Always give praise in public in front of others and correction in private. Just saying thank you is a great way to get people motivated. But it has to be sincere. I make a great unemployment offer. Well coming from a worker that loves being motivated by money, I'll give you a few tips. One - APPRECIATE your staff, don't micro-manage. Give them little "perks" such as letting them leave early every now and then, be accomodating to their schedule if they have doctor's appointment, personal events, etc. Lastly, be their biggest cheerleader daily, and be on their side 110% when it comes time for a review (wink wink raise increase). |
