Is marketing a great major?
Marketing is a great career, but to advance in a large company you will need an MBA. Therefore, you should study something else other than business and marketing. Just be sure to add some economics, accounting, marketing and statistics in you course, and get top grades in whatever you choose.
If you want to study something related as an undergrad, consider art, math, mass communication, a foreign language, sociology, ... . Mainly, you want a background that a company would find interesting to have. Everyone will have MBAs, and you will learn about marketing as you go. So your undergrad major should be something a little be difference so you add diversity of knowlege to the group you work with.
I was major in marketing undergrad and graduate school. I enjoy presentation and sales tactic. If you like working with people, marketing is a great major. Also you have to be creative if you are thinking of working in advertising field.
