No more paper money? Good or bad idea? |
Me and my boyfriend were having a discussion about how the government can cut down on drug sells. I said they could stop making paper money and put all money on cards. This would stop hand to hand money exchange and illegal purchases. The only people that will have the equipment to get money off the cards will be legitimate businesses. Thus, ousting a need for paper money and illegal activities. Wht do you guys think? Sounds great but haven't you heard about all the credit card and bank card thefts. I think it would be great if you added a retinal scan as a feature of the card security. I don't see us going paper moneyless. Just like I don't see us going to just coin money. Very creative. You might be on to something. Keep up the good work. good idea. i hate carrying cash I agree, thats a REALLY good idea. There would have to be better security, but I think it could be done. And...isn't money made from trees since its paper? Since everyones worrying about global warming and stuff like that, not using paper money would mean less trees being cut down, which therefore makes the environment better. Sounds like a good idea. But who would foot the costs of the transactions? More than likely each transaction would cost somebody something. If it's a government thing, then it would come out of our pockets in the form of a tax. Another tax? People won't go for that. Another issue, how you you pay somebody, for something? Such as buying a car (if you paid cash), and how would we pay for the cards? We would have to pay the government to get the cards, but what would we pay them with to get the cards? Oh, and money is not made of paper, it's made of cotton and linen. Bad idea. The world is not ready for this yet... From me buying a car off you to a kid with a lemonade stand; we need legal tender. Think of how many criminal masterminds will make millions counterfitting these "cards" you are proposing. Drug dealers will just exchange cards with credits on them, or just trade things of equal value. We have credit cards already, if you don't want to carry around paper money... but think of the remote places in backwoods USA, and third world countries around the world that will only deal in paper moneys! Good thinking, but it's not practical yet. -Bob |
