We live in n.c. my husbands pay checks are coming back nsf. what can we do? where can we file a complaint? |
a lot of his co-workers' checks are too First, immediately contact the business office/HR department of the business and demand your money, hound them every hour, every day until you get paid. If it is a check take it to the check to the bank issuing the check and cash it, don't deposit it and let it bounce again. Keep doing this as long as you still work with this company. Anytime a business does this it is a sign it is on its last legs. So your first thing is hound the company until they pay you, because otherwise you'll show up and the doors will be chained shut with a hand-lettered sign that says "Out of Business.". Second is very quickly get another job. You can complain to the BBB, but all that does is tell customers of the company it is having trouble, which means that the company will close that much faster. You can complain to the local Employment office, they can provide you with contact details to who to contact about complaints about nonpaying employers. You can also complain to your local alderman, who might be able to put some city hall pressure on the company, especially if the company has government contracts. Good Luck Start with the BBB. This company needs reported in a big way.You can also get ahold of the department in your state that handles things like this. I forget the name of of the department, but every state has one. They handle insurance questions and complaints toward companies as well. You may also want to call the Prosecuting attorney in your area and find out what they suggest. That is a crime not paying employees. First get a different boss and place to work. Then the better business Burroughs can tell you what to do. Labor relations can also help and they do have clout. The BBB can't help you. Place a call to the office and demand an answer. Then place a call to the District Attorney's office in the county that the office resides. |
