Starting as a Part-Time Real Estate Agent in NY? tips:? |
I need some tips on: 1. Organization 2. how to find the time? 3. Marketing 4. Should I try rentals first and then move on... ? 5. I have a full time job but have a strong desire to do Real Estate as a full time thing in the future... I can't afford to be full-time right now... suggestions? your help is appreciated... :) Your broker should be able to help you with a lot of this. If not, you need a better broker :-) They should have a game plan for both full and part time agents. I recommend working with a seasoned full time agent as a mentor, this was your clients will know that they are getting full service as many steer clear of new PT agents. I would not spend time with rentals personally, because they are low paying commissions. If you do make sure you add them to your customer database and follow up with them consistently for a year (at least every 3 months) so that when they are ready to buy, you will be the first person on their mind. If you aren't willing to follow up, then it is a total waste of time in my experience. Finding Time. If you are taking on a PT business, then you need to just cut out anything that is not critical such as TV, movies, and things like that. If you enjoy the work, then it wont be a problem. Once you start to make money, you will miss those things even less. Marketing. Have a business plan for your business and follow it; you will end up in the top ranks of agents nationwide because most fail here. Also, develop solid marketing plans for your seller clients (with the help of your broker, manager, or mentor), and you will outsell the competition and get more listings.
