What do i do if i got fired and the job i'm applying at now is doing a background check?

i got fired from my job for not showing up because i had to go out of town because my grandma wasn't feeling well and it was also my cousin's wedding. now im applying at some other stores and its an online application and they are saying that there will be a background check. so what should i do? should i put the store i worked at as a reference or not? and what should i say if they ask me why i worked there for such a short amount of time which was 4 and a half months.

Tell them the truth...all of it. Tell them you had a family medical emergency and your previous employer took issue with your decision to go out of town to take care of it.
tell them upfront or leave that job off your resume
Well, they will see that you worked there, so you really have no choice.

You quit because your grandma did not feel good? Huh?!?!?

And this wedding, it was a last minute suprise? You could not let your boss know when you RSVP'd four weeks earlier that you needed time off for the wedding?

Then, you simply did not show up and waited for them to fire you?

YIKES!

If I were hearing that, I would not hire you.

I hope you can come up with a good way to say that you were fired for missing work due to a misunderstanding. Or that you had to "give up the job" due to an out-of-town family emergency.

In the future, talk to your boss if you have plans and if you can't get off, then you show up to work and miss the wedding. Life is full of choices and you will end up missing things that you'd like to do.

Also, don't RSVP to an out-of-town wedding if you don't have vacation time available.

Good Luck!
Always answer truthfully. Explain anything you believe is a negative. Honesty is a powerful trait employers look for.
Good news- when most employers do a background check, they're referring to your criminal background. It's unlikely that they will actually call your former employers (I've never had any of mine contacted, and I've worked many jobs). That being said, be upfront and honest about your work history. Lying on an application can be grounds for termination later. Good luck!
be honest
If you leave it off your application they won't know about it. That's what I would do. There's no way they can find out about if you don't tell them.
