Work situation is nearing its end? |
So, for better or worse, my work issue is nearing resolution. Here is the story so far. A few months ago I informed by supervisor's boss of some concerns I had regarding the lab. As a result, I was given greater power in some projects-one of my ideas resolved a deadlocked project. I then had a very interesting conversation with our facilities HR director whom said the company did not think my boss was offering enough guidance to move me up-she wanted comments. I did not want to comment at that point. Late last week, my supervisor gave as bad a review as he could (had some very visible successes during the last six months so hard for him to say much). I contested the review to the facility director. The director brought in the VP of the facility. The director said that my boss could not defend his review of me; however, refused to budge on the assessment. The director then asked me to talk directly to my supervisor which I did today. Make sure you give any derogatory review of your supervisor very bluntly and objectionally. If it doesn't go well - plan on looking for work soon, and don't expect a good reference from this job. Not really sure what your question is. I got confused when you brought up your wife. Does she work in the same company? You do realize that if she has any input in your job performance, no one will take any stock in it... she's your wife after all ! It would be biased. If your supervisor gives you poor reviews and no one will do anything about it, I would start looking for another job, or you'll be in a dead end, because he's a brick wall in your prospects for promotions. What does your wife have to do with this? After reading the "question" I might agree that focus is an issue and maybe communication too. I did not really follow the whole thing. However, if you are going to talk with a VP of your company about your supervisor be sure that anything you say that is negative about your supervisor or positive about yourself is factual and not rooted in emotion or based on how you feel. |
