What is the best way to obtain job security?

pick a field that can't be outsourced, and that low-skilled immigrants can't do.
Most medical jobs fit this category, including pharmacists.
Teachers, firemen, police, most engineers, truck drivers.

If you already have a job, the best job security is to do your best and try to enjoy your job. People who are good workers with a good personality rarely get laid off, and if you do lose your job, you'll find another one quickly.
Not really a way to guarentee job security unless you have a contract. But that can hurt or help you. Try joining a union and being the best at what you do.
Starting your own business is a good way, also working for the government has it's perks in security and benefits.
Come to work 15 minutes earlier before your scheduled shift and being productive.

Please refrain from using the cell phone often and take your designated breaks.

Be sure to by hygienically sound.
Become an undertaker or own a liquor store. Even in the most depressed economic climates, those 2 trades always survive.
Find a profession that wont be off-shored !
First there is no job security. You must become an indipensable employee in a deposable. Volunteer for assignments, express willingness to work with problematic areas, gain knowledge (outside/inside) the job. I am boomber. I thought that all I had to do was to go to college, find a good job and remain for thirty (30). This mentality has left quick, fast and in a hurry. What skills do I possess? How can I strenghten these skills? What are my weakness? How can I turn them into strengths. What have I learned that I can transfer to other areas, departments, and employers. What is my educational background? What skills, knowledge, abilities do I possess that an employer would choose me.
