I need advice on job hunting within a recruitment agency? |
I registered in two agencies local to where I live and several online agencies two weeks ago and apart from a job possibility in three weeks I have n't heard anything from them! Am I supposed to be calling them everyday to ask if there are any new job positions or might this iritate them and reduce the chances of them finding a job for me? I really need to work but for all I know I might just be a name on a database to these recruitment agencies so I need to do something more active, but what? You need to folow up with the agencies. Recruiting agencies get very busy and hear from a ton of prospects. Many turn out to notreally be interested. In all of the agencies I have worked with, the people who get the most placements are the ones who are consistently advocating for themselves. I'm not saying to call everyday, but maybe one per week. It usually takes much longer than 3 weeks for anything to develop. If you haven't already, sometimes a face to face meeting with the recruiter will help your resume stay atop the pile. Their customer is the company, not you, so impressing them is an definite advantage. One always seems to fair better by referrals from associates. I would advise keeping in touch with your past acquaintences for any referrals, etc. I suggest you try to be more involved on job sites, rather than being passive and waiting for calls that may never come or come too late |
