Quitting a job? |
i just recently got a job as a cashier and today will by my second day of work, but already i want to quit. I don't think cashiering is for me, but i'm not quite sure how to quit. considering it's my second day, will it look bad if i quit now or should i wait? Two days really isn't a long time to be at anything. Most people suggest you try it out for at least two weeks - then you will have learned it and can make a reasonable choice ... Certainly you can quit - but yes it will look bad. Don't expect a reference from them either. Best of luck Source(s): Years in HR Well you might consider finding another job before you quit, unless you don't have to work. If it's just not right, then tell the boss it isn't working out for you, and that you'll be glad to give him two weeks notice. You're probably in a probationary period. But it's just not a probationary period for you, it's also a probationary period for your new employer. If you've realized, for sure, that this is not what you want to do, give your employer notice. But try talking to your employer first and voicing your concerns. Perhaps there's another role in the store you can fulfill that would be more suitable to your skills and abilities. Sometimes a new job is just a not a good fit. Really think about what you want to do. I'm assuming you're young, so there's not a whole lot you can choose from. Are you looking for a more professional environment? Try applying at a bank. There are some banks who will hire 16 year olds (that is if you're that young). Tellers do have some cash-handling, but professional service is the most important.
