Help! i have a job interview at best buy!!? |
i applied for a cashier and i'm hoping to get the job. has anyone gone through this interview before? what questions did they ask? While I havent applied for a Best Buy job, I can tell you what they are looking for, and what they will ask. (I was a store manager for Macy's for many years. Remeber first what they are looking for. They want an employee that is outgoing, responsible, cheerful, a team player, flexible, honest, smart, and one that will be there a long time. Experience isnt all that important, but if you have it, all the better. Now remember to answer any questions in a way that will reinforce all those points. Questions you will get: 1. 'Why Best Buy?" (Answer: Best Buy is the leader in consumer electronics, is growing faster than any of their competition, and I read on the internet that they are great company to work for) This tells the interviewer that you learned something about the company, and actually did your homework. 2. Do you have any retail experience? (Answer: the truth. If you dont, then say no. But say you have friends that do, and what they have told you about why they like working in retail.. "I like people, I like the fast paced environment, I like flexible schedules ..nights weekends") 3. What are your long term goals? (Answer: I'd like to be a store manager someday. I have no problem starting at the bottom and working hard to achieve that goal. I plan on going to college part time and getting a degree in retail management, and would love to someday be an executive in a company as strong as Best Buy.) 4. In your last job, what did you like and dislike about it? Think out your answer, so what you disliked can t be thought of as negative... too far from my house is a good answer. Good luck! Looks like Patrick has you covered. I would also suggest going to the big job boards (I know Monster has this section) and going through some of the general interview preparation. If you have a resume, bring a few copies, even if you emailed them. It shows that you are taking this seriously. Also - makes sure you pick out your clothes and try them on in advance. You want to look neat and professional. (Not a suit for this level, but no holes in your clothes or worn out t-shirts for an interview either.) Smile - even if you are nervous. Remember, customer service is going to be VERY important - it's all about attitude in retail. Best of luck! Years in Staffing & HR |
