What major-related job can I get while in college? |
So I found the job I want for this company called Genzyme. But so far it looks like I'm gonna have to graduate college first before I can get. lol It's a job for a biotechnology company for someone who has a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. And I am still in college as a Junior. As of now I am unemployed, but I am wanting to get a job that has something to do with what I am going to school for (which is to eventually become a geneticist). And I need a job. So I was wondering what kind of stable job can I get while going to school that will help a Biology major like myself get a foothold in the science field, instead of getting a job like working for a restaurant or grocery store that would have nothing to do with science. I know Genzyme has co-ops and internships, but as of now in Tampa, they don't have any (but later they might). Any tips, suggestions, etc.? Your best bet is to check with your school for internships with biotechnology companies. My experience has been that interns make the best candidates for full-time employees. If your financial status permits, you could go to Genzyme and offer to work for free until they budget more money for interns or an existing intern position opens up. By offering to do that, Genzyme would see that you want to learn, are willing to work, and are truly interested in working for their company. If your financial status doesn't allow that, perhaps ask them if you could come observe a few hours every week. |
