Is it just me why cant i get a job? |
im 18 finish school available work history cant get a job is it cause im black and muslim Make sure that when you fill out your job applications that you use proper grammar and punctuation. Your question did not reflect this, so I assume that was because you were in a hurry or doing something else at the same time. Unfortunately, discrimination does still exist in our world. You are probably less likely to be discriminated on the basis of faith and race if you interview with someone who employs lots of individuals of diverse faith and racial backgrounds, but it can still happen. Don't automatically assume that it was your race and faith that is preventing you from getting a job. Not being able to gain a job is usually due to other factors. It could be the type of job you were applying for. For instance, if it was a receptionist job, and you had lots of experience, but not as a receptionist, they were probably looking for someone with experience in that specific field (that happened to me). Or, if you are in a transition as it seems - from high school to college (or from high school to the workforce), that can make it hard to find your niche. Employers may look at a resume with lots of different jobs, and wonder - what does she/he want out of this position? If they think you just want a paycheck and not a career, many will not hire you. (I think it's dumb, but that's just the way it is.) Persevere, don't give up, the economy is very tight right now, and lots of people are having a hard time finding jobs. Very successful people who have had long-term careers are being laid off right now - I know two people who have experienced this. Hang in there, and it will be ok. I am not going to lie to you and say that doesn't matter. Most people will not use the race thing anymore, but their are still some that do. Muslim I can see a lot of people being afraid because of it. The world has changed since 9/11 and their is so much fear being pumped into the social society by the media. Are you wearing a head covering during interviews? It is wrong if you are having difficulties finding a job. I am also having a had time getting a job right now, I live in a high unemployment area. I don't think that matters.... there are many types of jobs and you need to just find whats right for you. How about a sales opportunity?
