What to wear for job interview at library?

I'm 17 and I have a job interview (my first) in two days at a library, what should I wear? What else can I do to prepare for it?

Congratulations on your first job interview. Working at the library is a great experience for many people. Depending on what kind of library (public, elementary, university and etc.) you are going to interview at, I recommend that you wear what your librarians are wearing, perhaps business casual. As for preparing for the interview, make sure you answer simple interview questions such as:

1) Why do you want to work at the library?

2) Do you enjoy reading? Why the library and not the bookstore?

3) Tell me a little bit about yourself. (This sounds like an easy question but there are many ways to answer it. Since you are a young lad, I recommend that you talk about your experiences at school such as what have you done, telling them about your extracurriculars, how much you enjoy reading so much that you really want to work at the library, things like that. You should be well-spoken, well-dressed, and well-qualified for the job. Other than this, just be yourself!

PS Don;t forget to bring a copy of your resume and/or cover letter. A letter of recommendation from a teacher or someone who knows you personally (other than a friend or family) might be helpful, but not required.

Visit the library and see how the staff is dressed. That should give you an idea of what is appropriate. You don't want to under-dress for the interview. But overdressing probably want help.
go with a typical business casual, like Khaki pants and a polo shirt with oxford shoes.
Go and have a look what the current staff are wearing, for ideas. Generally speaking, you should aim at smart casual.. no jeans or exposed belly. Maybe some loose fitting dress pants with a casual button up shirt, FLAT shoes and not too much perfume. (public place, many people are sensitive to smells.)
Style your hair to look neat and wear a BIG smile.. congratulations on your interview and all the best.
PS have some answers ready in your head for when they ask questions like 'why do you want to work in a library?' or 'what do you expect to do?' or even 'why do you think we should give YOU the job?' (a good answer for this one is along the lines of 'because I'm reliable, I can work independently, I learn fast..etc)
The following are accepted standards in the job market. Follow them if you want to make a positive first impression. These guidelines will of course vary from country to country and the type of job you are applying for. The best way to find out how you should dress up for an interview is to dress a little bit higher than the employees you would be working with.

Women:
路 Don't wear your skirts too short or too tight, heels to high, or blouses too low and too sheer.
路 Skip the loud nail colors and long nails. Keep your makeup subtle.
路 Carry an extra pair of stockings just in case and wear them, even in the summer.
路 Don't wear too much jewelry; keep it simple. Don't wear lots of earrings.
路 Conservative blouse and suit, with skirt not too short, sensible heels, subtle make up and jewelry. Fill only one hole with earrings if you have many. Never wear large hoop earrings.

Men
路 Don't wear an earring.
路 Keep your nails clean and trimmed and remember to shave.
路 Wear knee length socks that match your pants to avoid "the sock gap."
路 A dark suit, white shirt, tie and dark oxford shoes. (This will vary from country to country and the type of job being applied for).

Everyone
路 If you think you need a haircut, get one.
路 Don't splash on too much perfume or aftershave. Many people are allergic to scents.
路 Don't wear a nose ring.
路 Take a shower that morning and wear a deodorant.
路 Polish your shoes and press your clothes the night before.
路 Absolutely don't chew gum or smoke.
路 If you suffer from sweaty palms, keep a handkerchief with a little baby powder or cornstarch in it. Before your interview, go into the restroom and dry your hands with it.
路 Go to the interview alone. Don't bring a friend or relative.
路 Get a good night's sleep the night before.

Peace and every blessing!
