Maximum of 2 hours work on Sunday for 16 year olds? |
I am 16 and have just started a part-time job. I work for 4 hours on a Sunday but after reading on the Internet it seems I am only supposed to be working 2 hours? Is this correct? Does it really matter? It really depends on where you live. I live in SC in the USA and when I work on Sundays I usually work about 5 hours or more. ur 16, you can work longer than 2 hours. (Assuming you are in the UK), you are now legally allowed to work. I think it means for 16 year olds who are working full-time. You should be OK, although there are still laws against 16 year olds working on the night shift. At the restaurant where I work, we employ 16 year olds on a casual basis for up to 8 hours on a Sunday. You'll be OK - as long as you're not in paid employment in the week. Best of luck in your new job! I worked 7-8 hours on a sunday when I was 16. I didn't mind, I needed the money. I don't think it matters really. there is nothing wrong working for two hrs or 4 hrs on Sunday. the longest hrs you can afford to work than the more money you can earn.you want extra money you work for it. as long as you are doing the rigth thing. Children at school studying for GCSEs can only work 2 hours on a sunday, no more than 6 on a saturday and not before 7am or after 7pm any day of the week. Children also need to have a work permit, signed by their parents and a teacher at school. If you are 16 but have just done your GCSEs, these rules do not apply. I am a HR Manager |
