Has anyone ever worked as a housekeeper or room attendant in a hotel??? |
I'm applying to LaQuinta hotel and was wondering what a normal day would consist of if I were to get the job. I've never done this sort of work before and just wanted to get an idea of what it would be like just in case i do get the job. Did you or do you like the work???? And what happens throughout your day?? It is by far the hardest and most thankless job in the hotel. You will start out with a meeting in the morning for the entire department to discuss any special instructions and floor assignments. You will most likely be expected to clean 12-16 rooms a day with an average time to clean at about 30-40 minutes. Some hotels choose to pay per room cleaned but most just pay hourly wages. It is really very repetitive work. You may have to work in the laundry room as well, which is never ventilated enough. Don't expect to have Sundays off as these are typically the days with the most departures and therefore the most rooms to be cleaned. You will be truly surprised at how horribly people treat their rooms and the interesting stuff they leave behind. I hope this helps. Source(s): Personal experience Its been a while, but back when I was in high school I worked as a housekeeper. Normal day consisted of: Stocking cart, and going room to room cleaning the rooms. Some rooms the guests were still staying & others they had checked out. Its a good job to have if you want to work alone. Headphones were nice to have, cuz it can get boring. No i havn"t but my sister has she said its horrible.Yeah i don"t think you would want to do it because she hated it maybe you will like it. |
