Why does it seem to hard to find a decent paying job? |
I have been looking for a better paying job for the last few months. I get the interviews but I never get the job. I have my Associate's Degree and am going back to school to get my Bachelor's. (I can't go back yet because I have no money!) I know all the computer applications. I know how to be a secretary. Answering phones, I have done many times. Yet, still nothing. Is it all about the connections? Is it all about how someone looks? I always get stuck at these really deadend retail positions. The ones where the managers are my age (22). Is this just because the demand for people with Bachelor's Degrees and even Master's Degrees? No it's not and I feel your pain, I have two Bachelor's and my Master's and I've been searching since the first of the year, and I get interviews and nothing turns out, you will just have to stay positive and focused. Make sure you have key tag words in your resume that will stand out so an employer will notice you and don't forget about your cover letters and thank you letters. Your cover letter should be specific to the job you are applying for and you should be following up with a thank you letter/email 24 hours after the interview and hit up all of the job boards even though Monster and Careerbuilder and the powerhouses there are others out there as well. Check your local paper, the Sunday's paper will usually have the most posting and check out the companies websites as well that are in your area, do so networking let people know what your interested in and what it is you would like to do. Source(s): http://www.careerbuilder.com/default.asp... http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/?refsrc=ysem... http://promotions.monster.com/keywordjob... http://www.job.com/ http://www.jobcentral.com/ yeah associates doesn't say too much, even at my work they require a bachelors to be promoted to a higher level manager. Maybe you are looking in the wrong fields, yes have experience as a secretary, but is that what you want. Expand your horizons you are most likely qualified for more than that. Take a look at monter.com search jobs for administration and see what is out there you may be able to get a better direction of a career for yourself. Most important, never give up Anything under a Bachelor's Degree will not open doors for you. Try temp agencies. That will get your foot in the door at a company that will pay for your Bachelor's. |
