Bosses, how do you handle it when...? |
Bosses, how do you handle it when one of your employees questions your work ethic. Frankly this employee doesn't know what she's talking about. I have been on the clock seven straight days and am more than willing to work extra hours when necessary. What work ethic is she talking about, just time you spend at your desk? How busy you appear to be? Reassure her that you work lots of hours (Sat & Sun), and are ready to kick in for a big push at any time. Invite her into your office or out to coffee to discuss the matter. Find out what is bothering her (maybe she thinks she works harder than you so she should be the boss). Act like the boss. Take the attitude that she's your underling you're counseling because she's unhappy, but at no time let her have the upper hand. She's not the boss, and if she continues to criticize the boss, she may never get there. She's not the one who judges your performance, your bosses are. This is really NONE OF HER BUSINESS. Debbie TX Mom Not a professional supervisor You could put out a "contract" on her ................ Problem solved ! Seriously , you don`t have to explain anything to her . Who`s the boss here ? If you do attempt to explain your "work ethic" , her type will quickly realize she can control you , and next thing you know she`ll be running to your superiors and making your life hell at work , and eventually at home ! You HAVE to nip this in the bud .............. immediately ! Tell her perhaps she`d feel happier working for a different firm , and if so , you could "arrange" her transition ............. as far as the street , anyways . Never forget ......... as long as she`s there , you AND your job are in jeopardy ! |
