How can one get back into the professional workforce after taking years off to be a mommy? |
How can one get back into the professional workforce after taking years off to be a mommy? well, you didn't mention what sector you're interested in, so i'll keep it general. my suggestion is to start off volunteering in the sector you're interested in. for example, if you're into the medical field, volunteer at your hospital twice a week. do this for a few months, it takes time to adjust to being out of the house, and to dealing with adults and the pressures of the work force after a time out for raising kids. once you're sure you're ready to go back, and you're sure your family can handle it, you'll need to get your resume in order. the fact you're currently volunteering will help mitigate the time you've taken off to raise your family. try to get a mentor in the industry. make connections while volunteering. give your resume to hr. keep volunteering while you search for a job. don't be afraid to use a staffing agency, you need to have the following things fixed in your mind before going on any interviews: 1. how far are you willing to travel to work? 2. how much flexibility do you need? 3. what is the minimum pay you're willing to accept 4. how many days/hours are you looking to work weekly? i'd also advise reading up on interviews before going into one. apply for a job be willing to go back to school for training if needed ASKMEHOWONLINE.COM If you like to write and blog and stuff on the web, you might be able to work from home depending on how much you need to make. This site I can refer you to isn't going to make you rich (or at least it hasn't made me rich) but I've made money from it. Go to this link to sign up free with a referral from me since I already write for them: http://www.associatedcontent.com/join.ht... If you need to get into some other kind of full-time work, you might try entry-level jobs in health care where there is big demand. If you want to re-locate to Texas and you know how to use a computer well, I also know a place that's hiring near Dallas! It's entry level too, though. http://www.associatedcontent.com/join.ht... |
