How do I join a Professional Organization?

which can help me advance in my career? I start tomorrow, but with my new career, I also want to join a organization on the side where I can learn more about what it takes to be successful in business, technology, and banking, and all of that stuff. I can attend this organization in the evenings after work/dinner, and even on the weekend. I really want to focus on my career seriously, and the time is now!

Also, along with your answer if possible, what would you recommend I search in "Google" to get even more information on this inquiry? Thanks!

There are numerous professional orgs....Regarding which one will provide you with the greatest benefit depends on your area of interest. For example, if you are an engineer, try ieee.org, human resources, shrm.org, etc.

In your Google search, try a simple string...your area of interest, "engineer organizations, " and take it from there.

Lastly, cost...yes, it typically costs to be a member in a professional org. The costs are typcially very reasonable. Also, consider joining a local or regional branch of a national or global org.....you'll typcially get more exposure, as well as application and theory.
You should do a search on Google for whatever type of professional organization it is within your state. It will probably cost you to join the organization but usually there is some type of perk other than having increased networking because of the organization. For example, the one that I am a member of offers discounts on continuing education classes to members that are required to keep your license.
The best way to advance is to look at the people in the jobs you want and see what they've done. Find out what associations your bosses or people in the field you admire belong to and investigate those. There generally will be a cost involved, but if you can convince the company that your membership will have a direct impact on your performance and professional development, you may be able to get reimbursement.
