Are starting salaries usually higher if overtime is expected? |
I am anticipating a job offer next week, though nothing is official yet. It would be a salaried position, but I have not talked salary yet with the company. For this job, about 4 or 5 hours of overtime per week seems to be the norm based on what they told me. Will they likely offer me a higher starting salary because of that? Just wondering! Possibly but not because they just offer more due to the overtime. Because they need overtime they have probably found that they need to offer more to keep people there (unless it is otherwise an exceptional job or work environment) so they will possibly offer more because they have foudn they need to. On the other hand, possibly they won't offer more as they are cheap bastards and have found that somee people will accept the extra work and still not quit. Anyhow, certainly take the salary versus the extra time you will need to put in into consideration when making your decision. chances are it will be lower...because of the OT pay no, they will try to work it to their advantage. one advantage to them of a salary job is their payroll is easy to figure and of course if you work overtime it is not paid but one thing to your advantage is if you miss work you still get paid but they will tell you how many absences until they get mad |
