What do you think i should do? |
I work in a retail store as an associate manager. I have been there for a little over 7 years. I bust my but for the manager and anything he ask me to do i do. I do other people's jobs and he dont say thank you or anything nice to me about it. I think i am worth more money than what i get now. So my question is should i say anything to him about all these things i do and get no reconition for it. should i just shut up and be happy i got a job or should i just tell him i should get something for all these things i do or should i go and look for another job. I am kind of tired of where i work but i have a feeling no one is going to pay me what i make there. I would put together a professional portfolio of the things that you have done and have experience with. Arrange a time to be able to sit down and talk with your manager. You could present your professional portfolio and request a review of your present salary. You could also discuss your future and goals with your company. I would not begin the discussion talking about your manager's shortcomings about not saying thank you etc, (even though it would be nice to hear it once in awhile) only because it might make him defensive and not open to what you are discussing in regards to your achievements and salary. Good luck. Get a book of college courses and look for a more interesting career. After 7 years in one place it will be hard to change fields without some training. Pick something that will give you the money you need that can be studied after work and on weekends. |
