Can a person be taught to be an entrepreneur, or is it something natural inside some, but not others?

Yes, entrepreneurship can be taught. But of course there are people who have a natural inclination for it. The Chinese train their children in business at an early age. I think Jews do the same thing. That's why the Chinese and Jews are good business people.

With education and experience you gain the much needed confidence to become an entrepreneuer. You have to be willing to take big risks, and know what your doing to become successful in the business that you are persuing.

I think some people may just have what it takes....charisma is a must to become very successful...and some people just don't have that!

most of life's skills can be learned. I'm convinced that the ones associated with entrepreneuring can too.

that said ... what can't be easily changed is who you are and what you like to do. You'll always be more comfortable and effective doing what you like or even love doing.

nearly everyone can put up with doing things they dislike IF they know the time they'll have to do 'em is limited and certain. Outside limit seems to be about 5 years. [Salarymen in Japanese corportations rotate through many types of mgmt jobs on usually 3 year cycles -- so if they dislike accounting (for example) they know they'll only do it for three years and then on to something else -- really helps them get through it.]

Now that I've set you up ... the number one job of every entrepreneur is selling. You have to sell product. you have to sell your vision to add people. you have to sell your capabilities to grow your company. in fact, every ceo spends lots of time selling, selling, and selling -- they're alway pitching something to someone.

so one early step to being an entrepreneur is to learn to sell.

it doesn't matter if you dislike selling. or even if you dislike the product you are selling while learning. you need to learn to sell.

fortunately, you can learn to sell in less than five years, easily. and there are plenty of employers out there who need salespeople and will teach 'em their method of selling.

all you have to do is find one.
